It was a bittersweet trip home. I was glad to be getting the opportunity to go and to be in Sandpoint for Lost in the 50's. I enjoyed seeing my friends and family, but I dreaded the task that I came for, that was boxing up all my mom's Barbie dolls as well as spreading her ashes. We tried to make the most of it and enjoy time with family and friends. Grace and Reese had a great time at the car show. They ran around for quite a while between the cars and up on the grass of the high school, pretending to fly. When it came time for the parade we loaded up and started down the road. I couldn't figure out why people were laughing. After all we were in my dad's 1963 Catalina, we had oldies blasting and we had adorable kids in the back seat. It wasn't until I looked in the mirror when I saw that Grace was sound asleep with her head tilted to the window and her mouth wide open. It was hilarious.
I managed to squeeze in a quick trip to Seattle during my time home. I had such a wonderful time seeing old friends and being back in Seattle. I finally got to meet my friend Dawn's daughters. Grace had so much fun hanging out with Evie. It was such a case of money see-monkey do. We had a great time at the American Girls store and Grace got to finally build a stuffed animal at Build a Bear. We had a blast. I was even able to squeeze in a trip to my oldest friend, Rachel's house and I got to meet her adorable baby Max.
After getting back to Idaho my friend Kristi helped me pack up over 90 boxes of Barbie and other dolls to go to the storage unit until they make their trek down to Florida to be sold in August. I'm glad that I finally got that packed up, but not as glad as my dad.
