It is really difficult to get in the Christmas spirit this year. It doesn't feel like Christmas when you see palm trees decorated with Christmas lights and it is 75 degrees outside. I don't like seeing the trees decorated here because they don't even grow here and they die so quickly. In an effort to help be a little more festive (not a Grinch) we went on the Conch Tour Train for a nighttime tour of the Christmas lights. Grace did better on this one than her first trip, but she still doesn't have the attention span to sit through and hour and ten minutes of driving and lights. But she did do pretty good.
On Saturday Brandon and Carrera were volunteering for the Gingerbread House decorating event at the Oldest House in Key West. It was held in the gardens outside. What a huge and fun event. Grace had fun eating all the decorations while Brandon made the house. Needless to say the house didn't last long once it came home. But we all had a lot of fun at this event and can't wait to go back next year!
After the gingerbread house building fun, and in a failed effort to burn off some of the sugar she consumed, we headed to the Butterfly Conservatory. I keep hoping that Grace will someday get over her fear of butterflies, especially since her entire room is decorated in the, but it hasn't happened yet. As long as they don't fly, she is okay.
(She hates the butterflies and would swat at them if they tried to land on her)
(This was as close as she was going to get to that big, mean, scary butterfly)
