Locals Day

The first Sunday of every month the residents of Monroe County can pretend to be tourists and visit a lot of the Key West attractions for free. The list of free attractions are The Conch Tour Train, The Old Town Trolley, Key West Aquarium, Flagler Station, Key West Shipwreck Historium, Harry S. Truman Little White House and the Key West Walking Tour. We've taken advantage of the Aquarium a few times, as well as the Conch Tour Train. I've only gone to the Little White House once, it isn't exactly busy little kid friendly, neither is the Shipwreck Historium.

April 3rd was the first Sunday of April so I decided to go meet up with Tonya and her daughter Sophia. Typical for us, we all got a very late start and didn't end up getting out of the house until the afternoon. Grace, Carrera and I went to the aquarium first and met up with Tonya and Sophia. We watched the demonstration and explanation of all the different animals. We even watched them feed the stingrays and the sharks. We got to even pet a shark. Grace thought that was fun. Grace and Sophia loved the touch tank and enjoyed playing with the starfish and sea slugs. Carrera got a large Hermit Crab out for the girls to see, but not touch. They had a blast.

After the Aquarium we went next door to the Key West Toy Factory. I had never been there. I was amazed. The toy store is designed to look like a tropical shipwreck. It was a blast. We got tokens to ride the small indoor carousel. The girls loved it and would have spent all day on it. After all that excitement it was time to go home. Grace kept trying to fall asleep in the truck. She had a lot of fun.
