I'm so lucky that Grace USUALLY wakes up in a good mood. Today was no exception. She likes playing in her crib after she wakes up. She also likes to stand and hold on to the crib railing. She is getting good at pulling herself up and balancing. Even her crib has received the "Grace Seal of Approval". What a silly girl.

Thank Goodness She's Washable!
Grace is starting to learn to eat with spoons and forks. It's quite messy. Usually she ends up chewing on the handles more than getting the food in her mouth. Also quite often a lot of her food goes on the floor, in her hair, up her nose or anywhere but the mouth. We've even had the bowles become hats a time or two. In the end she usually gets a bath and she is good to go for the next meal!

Yet Even Another Chapter in Why Buy Toys (Turn Speakers On)
Grace loves her baths. We do have bath toys, but she prefers the washcloth, a cup and a bottle of water. Of course she has to find the right "crinkly" spot on the water bottle to bite to make noise with her new teeth. During this bath she had decided to make it a "bubble bath." After she did, she looked around to see what the noise was. It was so funny.
Grace's Show
Grace loves to watch the washer and dryer. We joke around and say that Grace is watching her show "As The Laundry Turns." We stand her in front of the washer and she loves to wash the clothes turn. When she gets bored of watching the washer we "change the channel" and put her in front of the dryer. Thankfully this occupies her for a while and lets me get a lot done.
We changed the channel!

Another Chapter in Why Buy Toys.
Grace is bored with most of her toys. Granted, she doesn't have a lot of them right now because they are in our household goods shipment and will be here sometime at the end of July. She has discovered new toys. Those new toys include the computer mouse and our blinds. She likes the sound they make. Our blinds have gotten the Grace seal of approval (they've been licked).

The Look
Since Grace has her two lower teeth she is starting to bite. Believe it or not, those two teeth HURT. I'm not looking forward to her getting her top ones. I noticed today that she gives a little look before she bites. My mom and Aunt Bonnie call it the "imp look". They're right. It's a look that says "I know what I am about to do is a no-no, but if I look cute doing it I won't get in trouble." I was on the computer checking my email when I felt a sharp pain on leg. It was Grace. She flashed me that cute little imp smile and all I could do was laugh, until she bit me again. I was actually able to capture that look today. She may be chewing on an empty teething tablet bottle, but she still bit me. Not all of the red marks on my legs aren't from her, some are noseeum bites.
Beer Girl
Grace is DETERMINED!!! She really wanted her daddy's beer bottle. She finally got it, thankfully it was empty. I think she just likes to hear her teeth clink on the glass.

What a Girl!
Grace has discovered the phone. We are in trouble now! She loves to push the buttons and listen to it beep. She always tries to grab the phone when I’m talking on it. She loves to play with it!

Swinging
We are fortunate enough to have small playground just outside our back door of our new place. It even has a swing that Grace can use. I'm happy to report that she likes to swing as much in Florida as she did in Germany.

Update & The Bonk Game
Well we are finally in Key West and in our house. We are renting a duplex on base. Our unit has been recently remodeled since Hurricane Wilma flooded it. We drove down from Ft. Lauderdale after getting Carrera on the plane for the summer. Of course the day we drove down, June 3rd, the lower Keys had a HORRIBLE rain storm. Inches of rain in just a matter of minutes. It flooded streets and knocked out power to a lot of people. We missed the storm thankfully, but our duplex unit got flooded. There was still a bit of standing water on the floor. The new floors they put down are now coming up and we have a dehumidifier in our unit running 24 hours a day. They are coming to fix the flooring sometime soon. I'll keep you updated on that.
In our new place we have no furniture, and are borrowing dishes. We did buy new pots and pans and some new basic kitchen utensils. We are sleeping on an air mattress and Grace is in her playpen that we flew over with. Needless to say none of us are sleeping well. We were supposed to have a "ship ahead" of items we needed before our household goods arrived. Well it was supposed to be waiting for us when we got here, but it turns out it won't be here until around June 29th. Our household goods won't get here until sometime around July 20th. Grace will have to sleep in her playpen until that time. Thankfully my sister in law let me borrow her high chair, so feeding Grace is MUCH easier now.
We are enjoying being back in the Keys and in the US. We were shocked to see how expensive groceries are here. Driving is overwhelming too. The Autobahn is much easier than the freeways in Miami. No one signals or lets anyone in to merge on the freeway. Germany was much more organized and courteous. I miss that. It's also very overwhelming how much of everything there is. It never stops. There is so many choices, so many buildings, so much of so many things. It was hard to get used to not having so much in Germany, but being back here is overwhelming. I miss seeing the open green spaces between villages. Now it is nonstop buildings, strip malls and housing developments. I guess we were just really lucky to have had the opportunity to live in Germany.
Well here is an update on Grace now. She now has her two lower teeth. She likes black beans and rice from El Siboney here in Key West. We found out that she doesn't like Greek food and it doesn't like her, but she LOVES Dairy Queen though! She is a big fan of blizzards and swirl cones. She isn't crawling yet, but she is getting close. She can get one end or the other up, but not both. Usually if she wants to go somewhere, she just rolls. She is starting to pull herself up on things. Who knows, maybe she won't crawl. We got our new washer and dryer and she enjoys sitting in front of them and watching them. Strange child. At least it allows me to get some chores done. She has a new game; we call it "The Bonk Game". She holds a toy up and we say bonk and we lower our heads to it. It makes her laugh and smile. She is so silly. She has begun the phase where she has to be around us all the time. She will no longer sit and play on the floor by herself. Needless to say it makes getting things done a challenge. photos of Grace being her clingy helpful self. She was helping me put the shower curtain up. Check back for more updates soon. I'll try to get a picture of Grace in our new boat.
