Blinking Bibs

My mom is a great bargain shopper. She happend to find these green bibs after Christmas for $.10. What a great price. We go through so many bibs now that Grace is eating solid foods. These new green bibs are even "festive". They light up and blink. I thought it was kind of cute. Well I put it on Grace so I could feed her dinner. She thought he blinking was AMAZING! Throughout the entire meal she kept wanting to "eat" her blinking bib. I finally had to cut all the blinky things out of them so she would focus on eating. Now we know, blinking bibs aren't a good idea.

Floaters

Grace is growing and changing so quickly. She is now eating "solid" foods and is trying really hard to sit up. I encourage her growth and development, well except for one thing... You see during dinner one night Brandon was having a beer. Grace watched him, almost studying his every move. I gave him Grace to hold while I took care of things. I came back to see Brandon teaching Grace to drink out of his beer glass. Thankfully all the beer was gone. But now everytime one of us has a beer, she thinks she needs a "drink" from it too.

New Highchair

We finally got Grace's new highchair. We got her a Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair. I love it! No messy trays to clean and when she is ready she can eat at the table with us. The chair grows with her so we never need a booster seat. It can even hold up to 300 pounds! Grace's first meal in her new "big girl" chair, sweet potatos. Her favorite!

The Many Faces of Grace

After a particularly funny diaper changing session, I decided that the next time I changed Grace's diaper I would photograph some of her many expressions. She has quite a personality and makes me laugh all of the time. Enjoy the many faces of Grace.

Grace's vase

On Sunday, February 8th we took a family day trip to a glassblowing shop in the Black Forest. We took a tour of the shop and saw the different styles of techniques used to make the beautiful glassware. The Dortheenhutte, located in Wolfach Germany, is the last remaining glass blowing shop in the Black Forest. After our tour we even got to try our hand at making vases. Carrera and I both took our turns, choosing the colors we wanted to add to the molten glass and blowing the glass. It was so amazing to see the glass take shape. Brandon declined to make a vase, but did end up buying one to bring home. Of course we (I) didn't want Grace to be left out, so we bought her one too.

First Popsicle

I'm sure glad that Brandon doesn't write baby books. We are starting Grace out on solid food now. You know rice cereal, sweet potatoes, green beans and what ever else they make in a stage one food. Well Brandon has his own theories about introducing Grace to foods. Whatever he is eating, Grace gets to sample. I'm sure the authors of all of those informative baby books are cringing knowing that my daughter has already sampled chocolate, chicken curry, chicken pot pie, vegetable beef stew and even whipped cream. The latest thing she has sampled was a popsicle. Brandon was working late and came home for dinner. After dinner he had a sweet tooth so he had a popsicle. I was busy tending to laundry and Grace was in her bouncy. I could hear Brandon talking to her asking if it was yummy. I looked and saw that he was feeding her little bits of popsicle. What a mess. She drools so much already, but add that to melted popsicle and you have a mini flood. Oh well, she enjoyed it and I got cute photos. Brandon's latest thing is that he wants to "spice" up her baby food. He thought he needed to add cinnamon to her sweet potatoes. I won that battle, and she didn't get any cinnamon. We'll see what he tries to add to her green beans at tonight's dinner.

My Funny Valentine

This is Grace's first Valentine's Day this year. How many Valentine's dresses does one little girl need you might ask. By my calculations she needs about six of them. :) I never would have thought a cheap box of chocolates would bring me and Grace so much entertainment and so many photo opportunities. I laugh everyday at things that amuse Grace, things that I would normally take for granted. She has made me see this world in a whole new light and I am thankful for that. Grace makes me laugh all of the time.
She is my funny little Valentine!

Supporting Sissy

We all went to Carrera's first basketball game on Saturday, January 31st. Carrera is on team one for girls 13-15 years old. Unfortunately Carrera's team lost. I think the bitter taste of defeat was lessened for Carrera since she had such an adorable little cheerleader cheering for her!
