Toot sounds

Grace and I recently went home to surprise my dad for his sixtieth birthday. We had a great time and it was nice to see everyone. For my dads party he was given a gift bag with gag gifts in it, including a whoopee cushion. The first time Grace was introduced to it by being lifted up and set on it, she was mortified that she made that sound, and was almost in tears. That was until she learned to put it under other people, now it is a super entertaining toy. She loves blowing it up and having it make the sounds. Such a goofy kid. I'm amused that she finds a whoopee cushion so amusing. Why are fart sounds absolutely hilarious to a kid???

Easter

Finally! Grace wasn't afraid of the Easter Bunny this year! She knows what to do at the egg hunts and knows that she will get candy at Easter.

This year we participated in Balfour Beatty's Easter function. Grace had a great time making and decorating a cookie, she had an even better time eating the remaining frosting. I think that was her favorite part. We had fun having hot dogs, making crafts, playing games and of course seeing the Easter Bunny. Grace was super excited to see him this year. It was a great that she understood what was going on this year. We all had a blast. Can't wait for next year!

Tooth Tragedy

I know it has been a while with the blog updates. Time just slips away from me and Grace keeps me super busy.

Well Grace may be her name, but she isn't graceful. I love my little klutz though. This was no exception. Brandon and I had made arrangements to head downtown to the St. Patrick's Day pub stroll and Grace was being watched by our friends at Grace Lutheran. They were busy preparing for their Easter program and Grace was having a ball playing with Lillian and Emily. They were all taking turns playing with the church microphone, when it was Grace's turn she got up on the stage, walked over to the microphone and immediately fell face first on to the carpeted floor below the stage, damaging her front tooth and splitting open her lip. We took her to the emergency room and they did nothing for her.

That Monday we made an appointment for her to see her doctor in Coral Gables. I took her up there and after an x-ray my fears were confirmed, her tooth would have to be pulled out. Dr. Vanessa was amazing, she numbed Grace up and gently pulled out the tooth. I cried more than Grace did. Afterwards Grace and I went to the mall and she got two new pairs of Cinderella shoes, a new princess Merida dress and crown and a princess Ariel crown. I know, I'm a sucker.

She is all healed up now and loves having the gap in her mouth. She will be disappointed when she has to go get the fake tooth to maintain the space.

Puddles and Tropical Storm Isaac

Grace got to experience her first tropical storm. Tropical storm Isaac roared past the keys on Sunday August 26th. The winds were strong, and we had quite a bit of rain, but that didn't stop Miss Determined to get her rain boots and rain coat on and stomp in puddles!

First Day of Pre-K

Where did the time and my little baby go??? I can't believe that Grace is going to be 4 in September. Since she is getting so big we decided to enroll her in Pre-K at Grace Lutheran school. It is still and adjustment for us, and a struggle to get her to wear the required polo shirts, but I think she'll adjust just fine (eventually).

Lions, Sharks and Goats, Oh My!

Grace had her semi-annual dental appointment in Miami on August 3rd. We decided to make a fun filled, long family weekend out of it. The drive up to Miami is never fun, but we left Key West at the crack of dawn in order to make it Grace's 9:30 dentist appointment. She did great at the dentist and as a reward got a Tinkerbell watch.

After the dentist appointment we headed to the first of our tourist destinations, Miami Seaquarium. This place was a huge letdown. It was fun to watch Grace's expression, but we all felt like we just wanted to free all the animals because they all looked so miserable and the park is very dilapidated. Of course while we were there we got soaked in an afternoon downpour. Grace and I were in good spirits though, we had our rain boots and stomped in puddles!

The next day we went to Lion Country Safari. It was a drive through safari in West Palm. Grace wasn't too enthused with it. She was kind of in a sour mood and didn't care about seeing animals. We still had a good time though. She did like the petting zoo at the end and the small carnival at the end with a few rides. She had a blast with that, until the goat tried to eat her Tinkerbell watch!

The next day we went to the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Science and Discovery. What an amazing museum. There were so many interactive exhibits to see and do. Grace had fun "building" a house, running an orange orchard, making cloud rings, flying a jet and so much more. I think her favorite part was the plasma ball. She kept saying her hands were becoming super hero hands. She cracks me up!

It was a fun family trip and I can't wait to do some more trips like that!

Rain, Rain Don't Go Away

Grace is spoiled. I know, that isn't a news flash. Since the summer is our typically our rainy season, Grace got a new pair of pink kitty cat rainboots, a matching umbrella and rain coat. She LOVES it! Everytime it rains she is so excited to go splash in the puddles. Of course a ton of water winds up in her boots and we have to keep pouring out the water. I got a new pair of rain boots too and we have a great time splashing through all the puddles. I love my girl!
